Iranian fantasy film City of Mice 2 is scheduled to be screened at the movie theaters in several cities of Canada and Europe.
Directed by Iranian woman filmmaker Marzieh Boroumand, the film which is currently on the screen in Toronto, will be heading to Vancouver.
The next screening program of the film will be in several cities in Europe, said the film’s executive secretary for international screening Mahshid Ahangarani.
City of Mice 2 is a sequel to a children’s hit Mice City (Shahr-e Moushha) which came out in 1984.
Both films were adapted to the big screen from a made-for-TV series called The School of Mice aired on Iranian TV from 1981 to 1984.
The film’s ensemble cast made up entirely of cutesy mice puppets with a strong morality in the tale and making connection among three Iranian generations.
Born in 1951, Marzieh Boroumand is an Iranian actress, puppeteer, screenwriter and director of TV series and films.
Boroumand has created several TV series for children in 1980s including Grandmother’s Home, The School of Mice and Ta-Be-Ta tales, which were warmly welcomed by audiences.
She was honored with the Golden Award at the 2014 International Ecological Television Festival in Russia for her film The Angel.
